years one to twelve who attend Queensland government schools. School
attendance is compulsory from ages six to fifteen, and 72% of secondary students continue until the age of seventeen

Australian
Catholic University
Australian Catholic University (ACU) commenced operation in 1991
after the amalgamation of four Catholic institutions of higher
education. Many of the
courses reflect an international focus, including successful
programmes which are run offshore in undergraduate education
and nursing and in postgraduate management and theological
studies. ACU is a public university, open to all, funded by
the Australian Government. Its awards are equivalent to those
of other public universities in Australia and are
recognised world-wide. ACU is a
young university with six small, friendly campuses (in
Brisbane, Sydney (2), Canberra, Melbourne and Ballarat) that
are conducive to study. Although the name reflects its
identity and philosophy, the University welcomes students of
all beliefs, and is dedicated to the individual's pursuit of
truth and academic freedom.

University
Bond University is
Australia's first and largest private non-profit making institution with its
status guaranteed by an Act of Queensland parliament. It is a
member of both the Australian Vice-Chancellor's Committee and
the Association of Commonwealth Universities. Bond University
was conceived, designed and built with one purpose - to become
recognised as Australia's first quality university. The
university's policy of keeping classes small means that each
student receives the personal attention of their tutor or
lecturer. More than a quarter of Bond students come from
overseas and the academic staff are drawn from over twenty nations.

Queensland University
Central
Queensland University (CQU) has been a degree granting institution for more than
thirty years. Graduates rank CQU in Australia's top ten universities
on the basis of their courses, university experiences and
teacher/student relationships. The University offers
recognised Doctorates, Masters, Graduate Diplomas &
Certificates, Bachelor Degrees and Advanced Diplomas courses.
CQU campuses caters for international students are located in

University

James
Cook University
Established in 1970, James Cook University (JCU) of North Queensland
has a record of excellence in teaching and research in
disciplines of relevance to the tropics. These disciplines
include Marine Biology, Tropical Environmental Management,
Public Health and Tropical Medicine and Engineering. The
university also maintains teaching strengths in a large number
of undergraduate and postgraduate coursework degree programs.
Most of JCU's students come from the greater North Queensland

Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is one of
Australia's largest universities with 30,000 students,
including 4,000 international students from over eighty countries.
Located in Brisbane, QUT is known as "a university for

needs. QUT was Australia's inaugural winner of the Good

This web site contains the Queensland legislation database
created and maintained by Office of the Queensland
Parliamentary Counsel since 1991. The database provides
electronic access to consolidated versions of Queensland Acts
and subordinate legislation, as well as to Queensland Acts as
passed from June 1991 and all subordinate legislation
published in the subordinate legislation series from 1 July
1991. Over a quarter of a million pages of Queensland
legislation are available on the site.

Tenancies Authority
The Residential Tenancies Authority (RTA) was established under the
Residential Tenancies Act (1994) (the Act) and is responsible
to the Minister for Public Works and Minister for Housing. It
is a self-funding statutory authority, operating on income
generated from interest earned on the bonds it holds as
custodian. The RTA also administers the Residential Services
(Accommodation) Act 2002, which looks after the rights and
responsibilities for residents and service providers of
supported accommodation such as hostels, aged care rentals and
boarding houses.
