Victoria
University of Wellington
Wellington’s Victoria University was created through an Act
of Parliament inspired by Premier Richard Seddon in 1897.
Victoria is a thriving community of over 18,000. Most, of
course, are students – of all nationalities, from all walks
of life – who have come to learn in the vital, open
environment that only university study can offer.

Institute of Technology
Hutt Valley Polytechnic and the Central Institute of
Technology have combined to form Wellington Institute of
Technology (WelTec), the new polytechnic for the Wellington
region. The WelTec, is one of New Zealand's leading providers
of quality tertiary education and training programmes. Courses are designed to equip students with the skills they
need to pursue rewarding careers in industry and commerce.
Wellington
School of Medicine & Health Sciences
Located in New Zealand's capital city, the Wellington School
of Medicine and Health Sciences is one of the University of
Otago's three clinical schools. About 200 fourth, fifth and
sixth year Medical students and 100 Radiation Therapy students
attend the School, as well as similar number of postgraduate
students who are involved with diploma courses and research
degrees.
Whitireia
Community Polytechnic
Whitireia Community Polytechnic is a government-funded
tertiary institution. Established in 1986, it is known for
producing work-ready graduates in New Zealand and overseas.
The main campus is in Porirua, sitting at the edge of the
scenic Porirua harbour. The campus is 20km north of Wellington
City. The two satellite campuses are Kapiti and Wellington
City. The Wellington City Campus is a short distance from
Parliament, and it caters for professionals looking at
re-training for career advancement. Over ninety full-time
programmes of study are available. Many programmes can be
taken part-time and Whitireia also has short courses of
community interest.
