For
over 25 years UNITEC
Institute of Technology (UNITEC) has been a leader in
applied tertiary education. A tertiary institution with
19 degree programmes, 16 postgraduate programmes to a
PhD level, and a wide range of undergraduate programmes,
UNITEC is a member of the International Association of
Universities, a United Nations affiliated organisation.
An education provider with strong links to industry and
the professions, UNITEC is a partner with RMIT
University in Melbourne and has also signed agreements
with institutions in Japan, China and South America,
giving its teaching and research an international
perspective.
A Government Tertiary Institution, UNITEC is located on
Carrington Road, Mt Albert, Auckland. The campus is set
amidst 54 hectares of parkland, with huge trees and
natural water features. UNITEC is a refreshing landscape
of tranquil green and only minutes from Auckland’s
Central Business District.
Approximately 12,000 full-time and 6,000 part-time
students study at the UNITEC Campus.
There are currently three accommodation options within
the UNITEC Campus - namely Oak Hall which offers 75
single rooms, The Residential Village which contains 34
five-bedroom flats, and UNITEC Residential Village 3
which offers 134 beds in a mix of single-bedroom
apartments to five-person flats.
As the number of in-campus accommodation is limited
(catering to only 2.1% of total student population) and the hostels fills up quickly,
students are advised to apply well in advance.
The shortage in supply is also aggravated by the
increase in the number of international students
studying in New Zealand.
